This just started happening. After about an hour of operation, the tractor feels like it's vapor locking. Bucks, snorts, and backfires. I have cleaned the carb, fuel bowel, and lines. I have also changed the coil twice. i'll let the tractor sit for an hour, and can run again for about another hour. This happens in 20 degree weather, as well as 50 degree. Any help? THANKS, Van[/b]

Model ?

Is this "as-original" 6 Volt, or a 12 Volt conversion? (A 12 Volt conversion would be more likely to have a coil and primary ignition resistor mismatch issue that would cause coil heating after it runs a while.)

Check the spark with an adjustable gap tester when "cold" vs. after it's warm and acting up to see if spark gets weak (will only jump a smaller gap).

If spark seems weaker, you might as well try an new condenser, as they have been known to have "thermal" issues and act up when warm.

The Model is a TO30. I'll check the plug gap and get a new condenser. It has been converted to 12volt by previous owner. Has been working great for 5 years. Just started having this issue. Thank you for your quick response and suggestions. I'll get back to forum

Not familiar with this tractor but my farmalls have a screen at the inlet to the carburetor. It's part of the elbow that the fuel line connects to and it screws into the carb so it's hard to know it's there. If you have one it could be partiall clogged or colapsed and need to be cleaned or replaced. Just a guess.
