Always wondered why these were not more popular. It seems leaving the tractor in one spot would be more efficient than back and forth back and forth

I know where one of these is sitting in a barn, owner died, family can't decide what to do with it. It's mounted on an unstyled A.

That might be true on a hand clutch tractor. But I question its ability to load out from a pile or from corral that is bottomless and doesn't have a hard pan to scrape along on. Seems like you are limited on how big a bite you could take too.

Only would work in outside lots as the barn would not be big enough to get it in and manouver it around and then get a spreader in. at that time they did not have clear span buildings like we have now. Would be same for soft conditions like any other loader. They were built when every farm treashed wheat and blew the straw on a pile in marnyard and cattle would tear into stack pulling out clean straw to lay on.

A friend had one. Was demonstrating it at his picnic last year. Real neat piece.

Saw one operational at the Shelby Iowa farm show couple years back! Owner said they were driving down the road and saw it sticking out along the fence row! They had to make several pieces to complete the restoration. Said 200 were sold?
