Ford 860 no spark

Hi everyone I have a Ford 860 that's getting no spark at spark plugs but I can take the tip of a screwdriver and get spark from the points I put in a new condenser and distributor cap on and still nothing any ideas on what may cause this I thought maybe coil but not for sure tho any ideas would help

What your doing tell me your points need to be cleaned real well or replaced. What is happening is the screw driver is hitting and arm of the points so you see a spark but that spark is not from the point them self. A simple test tp prove what I say is take a hot wire from the ignition side of the battery and touch the ignition side of the coil and I bet you get NO spark when you touch the wire to the coil and then back off which again says dirty points

Break it down to the primary and secondary system
that it is.

Can you get a spark out the coil??

If yes you have a secondary problem ie; cap rotor
plug wires.

If no you have a primary problem ie; points coil
condenser.

A typical cause of no spark is points that are burned or carboned or not adjusted and closing properly CHECK AND CLEAN POINTS FIRST AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS......

Before guessing and throwing parts at it if you work through my Troubleshooting Procedure it will help find the cause of no fire, run it and let me know and post back results and questions

May be the distributor plate is not grounding. Clean the areas where it fastens to the distributor.
