Anyone here have pictures of a ROPS on an 8n? My brother in Australia thinks I should look into adding one on the N that my dad is gonna be using.
Simple is better. I lack the case guy's skill!! Lol.

Not saying it can't be done, but I have read quite a bit on the fact that the Ford axles are not strong enough to support a ROPS in a rollover.
I am sure there are folks more knowledgeable than me on the subject.

These things are the law in Australia. My brother says every tractor is required to have one. And folks complain about our laws??! Lol. I don't think my dad will every use the tractor in a dangerous situation. He knows he is getting up in years and is fairly cautious....and my mom is super, over cautious!!!

Why can't or won't you google it
simple as typing in 8N Rops
then click on images

oh I get it you are on a smart phone and it won't allow it

you think google might recognize your location

Why

Google?..

CDC 8N CROPS

Yes that is spelled right.
Cost effective rollover protective structures

I believe there is a drawing that list every piece you need.
It is bolt together so there is a lot of drilling but no welding.
Heck the program might even be still going on and you could get one.

But remember a rops is only as good as the seat belt to keep you inside the rops protection area.

I don't know the details of Australia's ROPS standard but I doubt you will find one meeting the US standard for a ROPS to install on an 8N. You may find a canopy but it likely will not be ROPS certified. There is a whole lot of engineering of the structure and strength of mounting points, as well as testing, to be ROPS certified. This has been asked a lot over the years for crawlers and this is the common finding. There were a few retrofits built for machines of the same model lines as were being built when the standard came out, but not many. There are likely places in the US that will engineer and build one for you, but hold on to your wallet. Maybe you can get the plans for one from Australia and build one yourself.
Just what I have seen and found, hope you find what you need.

Wow!!! I googled it with my smart phone and found lots of good information. But sometimes hands on ,been there done that information is nice to have. I would rather have some practical hands on advice.

8ns have a long history of the axles breaking in half and falling off... Everyone knows that. You hear about it all the time. (sic)

Mutt or Jeff (or both) ..... well really then, everyone here could just Google their question and probably find all kinds of answers and nobody would have to post any questions here at YT. Hmmm, not sure about that !!!

EVERYBODY??? That's a lot of people that don't even know what an 8N is. And nobody I know has heard about it.

I bought mine from "Safe-T-Cab" and there is a good clear picture of it in the photo gallery. I copied the link but may not get it to post. The name of the thread is, "Where Can I buy a Rops" Last I heard they are in California and in 2007 they were going for $1300. I paid $600 in 2000. It is a real nice ROPS though.

That, in itself is ONE of the BEST reasons for a lot of stuff we do, KEEP MAMA HAPPY and Secure. As I get older my wife worries more about me when I am away. If she hears a gun shot in our neighborhood she wants me back in the house NOW! Good luck finding what you need to keep Dad safe and Mom peaceful. Dsmythe

ROPSR4U.com the national rops program, coordinated from Cooperstown, NY. follow links to the Kentucky ROPS guide. it lists several for the 8N, but it appears that there is no funding yet in Al.
my buddy Steve put one of the CROPS onto his 600 Ford, but he thought it interfered with using the 3pt hitch. I don't know if that was resolved.

I have put ROPS from Saf-T-Cab and Hercules on Farmalls.

the 1206 has the Saf-T-Cab rops, the 504 has the Hercules. both easy to install.

Bill, Last year I was over there and they didn?t have a ROPS to fit my Oliver 1555. Thinking about it now I probably should of said White 2-70. I only have 1 tractor with a roll bar anyway.

Where Did you get that. News to me and I have NEVER heard of an axle breaking and I also have never heard of a Ford 9N,2N ,8N or NAA breaking an axle or rolling over. And I have been around the Fords about all my life. Mine came to live with me when I was just 8 months old. Same thing on the TO-20 and TO-30 Fergusons as axles are made the same. I have a 9N and 2N now and had the NAA and TO-30 and would not ever have put a ROps on any of them. If you need something like that then DON'T go in the problem area with the tractor. Only stupidity would be a reason to need one.

The axles are designed for the tractor when it's RIGHT SIDE UP. It's a whole different ball of wax with the tractor UPSIDE DOWN, with a big ol' pry bar (the ROPS frame) twisting against the housings.

Bare-co does offer two different ROPS for the 8N. They are iso 5700 and SAE J2194 compliant. send me an email if you would like more information.
