I want to put some clear or opaque panels at the top of the long side walls on my pole barn.

Question - what are you folks using on your barns? Pics?

Thanks!
Bill

Bill, my 43x63 was built 20 years ago has the "windoews" on the west side and have yellowed with time..they were opaque when installed new.. I built a building using metal from menards and used clear panels.. supposed to not yellow.. Problem with clear panels is you see the wood from the outside if you dont do them right...have to make sure you run metal up to top of cross frame?? then install window over metal on bottom then bring top metal down to even with 2x6 cross frame to hide the framing.. course to some it might not matter.. to me it did..

try this again..I framed mine with 2x6.. install the window between the sixes fastening to the top and bottom 2x6 running metal up from ground to top of lower window 2x6 and metal from roof down to bottom of top window 2x6..
LOL hard to put into words.. I thought I had a pic but on different computer..

I put the translucent panels from Menards on the east and west facing upper gable ends.
They've stayed pretty much the same color since installed 9 years ago.

Put opaque panels on both of my pole barns. They got brittle and broke after about 35 years, then were a bear to replace with tin. I wouldn't do it again.

We put 36" opaque panels at the tops of the 15' sidewalls, facing east and west. There is enough natural light with sun up to walk through every day, and enough from a yard light on the corner to walk through at night, if you know what to look out for...

It has discolored a little, but I would do it again in a building that was not insulated.
