No. two daughter and family live 60 mi. northwest of here by Charles City, Iowa-where they made Olivers. A tornado came through there this afternoon about 1 pm. They live NE. of town and the fairgrounds which are W. of town were destroyed. Here is a pic. taken from their front yard as the tornado went N. of town--about 2 mi. away--Scary close---Tee

We have had seven in a month and a half around here. The last one was a mile from my apartment. It has been quiet for the last two weeks. Supposed to start up again in the morning.

Holy cow that looks awful. If i saw that i think i would get in my truck and haul tail out of there. Dang thats scary looking. Glad they made it through it.

I remember it well-Was home on leave helping my Dad plant corn. Was running a Deere 3020 and a field cult while he planted-was listening to radio station in Oelwein. All of a sudden it went dead-soon started pouring rain. Got cleaned up and went to look for the ladies in Oelwein--As I got closer I started to see damage 1 mi north of town- the motel was gone and there were cars and trucks in the ditches. Oelwein and Charles City were both hit by EF-5 tornados! May 15th 1968--Iowa has been hit by 4 EF-5 tornados since keeping records-2 in the same day 70 mi apart!---Tee

Our weather trends are not right. Japan is in the middle of a record breaking heat wave right now. Several people died, hundreds treated at hospitals for heat exhaustion.

Was working at the deere dealer while in collage when one hit. I hid under a 6620 in the shop while stuff was flying everywhere. It a weird feeling in the air before it hits. It was may 8,1996, I remember I had just bought a 1996 f350 but it was not hurt.

Lived NE. of Westgate-raised there.--The tornado stayed on the ground and clobbered Maynard were I went to High school too. 5 killed Maynard-Oelwein and 13 killed Charles City. I don't think I found any ladies in the mood in Oelwein that night---Tee

My dad was born in Charles City, his father worked at Hart Parr, I was born in Oelwein.

Does not seem like we were good luck.

We did not have too much damage but the high school across the road got hit good. Me and another collage student were just outside watching the high school girls leave for the day and we noticed a green sky. It hit soon after that. Lucky school was out.

I was picking up parts at Ina bearing in Cheraw Sc when the manager came out and ordered everyone into shelters. I was headed out when I looked out the loading dock door and saw a 40 ft pine tree fly sideways in front of it. It was over before anyone had a chance to move.

Ohio getting hit right now with tornados, several confirmed in the greater Dayton area but as of now don't know how many or just where or how bad. About an hour ago Celina, Oh got hit, about 12 mile west of me. Had pictures and bad and town is closed. Third time in last few years.

I was 5 when it hit Charles City, but remember seeing black stuff falling out of the sky where we lived in SE Minnesota. Later we found pieces of bills from Charles City and we were 50-60 miles NE of there.
