Th song was originally almost three minutes longer. They cut it in the studio.

Good thing we now have child labor laws. The song was written in 1967. Papa only has 5 acres left to plow with the brand new JD 5020 and 8 bottom plow. That's like an hours work and he's done for the day. Meanwhile he's got the kids doing all the "real" work.
