I am working on a case 930 gas. I have been trying to find any information on ignition timing. plugs and wires have been replaced recently and carburetor has been cleaned a rebuilt as well. Tractor still runs rough. I was just wanting to find the timing procedure for the distributor and what degree mark it needs to be on.
thank you in advance

I have found very little information in a operators manual. the manual shows 4 degrees btdc number one cylinder on crankshaft pulley and pointer. however i can not find the pointer and i also read online that there is a access to the fly wheel to get the degree marks as well.

I have a gas 930 that did the same thing as yours, and still does on numerous occasions. I have traced the problem to the gas shut off valve under the gas tank. The orifice is so small that a small weed seed will
either restrict the gas flow or stop it completely. I changed the fuel pump because that was another source of problems. The electrical wire would vibrate off and that would starve the old girl of fuel. This weekend I
am going to run fuel line hose from the gas tank to the pump and see if that solves the problem. Will let you know the results.

Thank you ill check that valve! Another out side source put the plugs wires and new points and condenser and I just want to make sure the distributor is in time and everything is gaped right. I did end up finding that pointer on the front crank pulley under all the gunk and oil build up  and found the timing marks!

Let me know what the fuel lines do for you.

The rough running, is this only at idle?

Does a partial choke help?

If so, could be a vacuum leak, lean idle mixture.

Does that engine have a siamese intake/exhaust manifold? The manifolds are cast as one piece or connected in such a way that exhaust can burn through and enter the intake?

Does the roughness continue above idle, power loss?

Could be loss of compression, broken valve spring, tight valve adjustment.

One of these can help with diagnostics.

is this a Gas Comfort King (fuel tank in rear) or the Pre-ComfortKing with the hood gas tank?

go over to the CASE board. may find more fellows like Adirondack CASE guy or John Saelie or CaseNutty that can give more advise.
