First it was known as the Mini tractor to go with the Mini car from British Motor Corporation. It was designed by Harry Ferguson Design, a company that was set up to design products for the motor industry after Harry broke with Massey Ferguson. the tractor had a 15hp petrol engine based on one used in a van they produced at the time. It had a mechanical depth control, so simple and quite effective.

Later versions had an increased horsepower and by 1968 it was known as the 4/25 with a styling that fitted in with the other Nuffield tractors of the time, the 4/25. 3/45 and the 4/65. After the takeover by British Leyland styling was changed and the name was changed to a Leyland 154. Its last incantation was the Marshall 302 and was built in Turkey.

Thank you Majorman.

15hp doesn't sound like much, for [i:abaff37d1b]either[/i:abaff37d1b] machine, but I'd bet that tractor would make a fine lawn tractor even today. Would certainly be better than these cheap riding mowers flooding the market -- but they're not 'cheap'!
