Well I just retired!

After 39 years with the same company the day to retire finally arrived. The company made an offer a retirement bonus and I went for it. When I look back on the last few years I realize it was not the best in terms of productivity and my attitude on the job. So yes the time was right to head for the door one last time. So far I am not regretting it but its only been 1 month. :D

I've been retired for seven years. I never desired to find another job. I have lots of tractor and farm projects to keep me busy. By the way coffee break is whenever I feel like taking a break. If you get bored, go buy a tractor for your wife to drive. gobble

Glad your able to retire on your terms. Not many will work that long in one place. I have had a lot of jobs over the years. Farming is the only constant thing I have done. With most of the others 7-10 years and something would change. Usually something external, like moving to take over someone that left or such.

Pretty quick you will be wondering how you ever found time to work. I worked 38 yrs with the same company and always thought I would retire from there but new management and they went down hill quick, I saw the writing on the wall and bailed out in 2007. I worked for another machine manufacturer for 3 yrs and then moved to my final job in 2010. Like you I knew it was time to go I liked the job and the people but my attitude was changing and not for the best so I thru in the towel at age 70 and haven't looked back. so to you I say congratulations and enjoy life and do some things you have been wanting to but never had time.

Worked for the same company 35 years of which 2 years in the military, Germany, at 53 years old I had seen enough. That was 18 years ago and I
don?t regret it one bit. I worked a couple part time jobs the first couple of years of retirement but I like doing my own thing. The key is to have some sort
of hobby or interest to keep you busy. I have that part pretty well covered - 8n Ford, 56 Chevy, 30 Ford coupe and other recreational equipment.

I worked for 31 years and at 55 I could start drawing a pension form the state and corporation had a buy
out for us old people. That was 15+ years ago and have no regrets and no desire or need to return to
work force.

All of you guys talking about time to retire. How about this babe in the woods.

Congratulations. I'm retired five years this month after 41 years at the same company and never looked back. Trouble is, they already got your best years out of you.

Congratulations on your retirement!!!!!
The thing I missed most was the social aspect of my fellow employees.
(I was a railroaded mechanic for 30+ years)
I still go back every 6 weeks to 2 months at coffee time to catch up
on the gossip and laugh at the problems they have!!
Anyway, I have joined a group of friends that meet at McD's nearly
everyday. For me the social thing was very important.
As someone mentioned you'll soon wonder how you got anything done before you retired!!!
But now you can say "Aw, heck, I'll do that tomorrow".

Tomorrow is my last day. Will be 66 in about 6 weeks. Spent around 20 years at this place, decided it was good time to call it. Have lots to do around place here in Tx and more to do at new place in Mo.

Congratulations. I retired 10 years ago after 43 years with Bellsouth and then AT&T. Worked outside the whole time and enjoyed it all. Never thought
about retiring until I went in one morning and told my manager I was ready to hang it up. I worked about 6 more months until things came together. I
kinda miss it but I couldn't go back and pick up where I left off. Too much new stuff and new technology now.

I to just retired over the memorial day
holiday 43 years making blacktop for the
same company shelly and sands from
zanesville ohio they were a great company
to work for.Rick

Congrats, I?m ready to go myself but got to hang in
there at least 5 more years to keep from getting
penalized too much, in two weeks I?ll have 40 years
in with the company, I have more seniority than all
others at this point. Will turn 58 in September,
started with them right out of high school. Many of
my coworkers/friends that I worked with many years
ago have passed on, seen so many changes over
the years I never would have dreamed of.

That's great. You will not regret it. I retired after 36 years with the Unisys computer co. around 13 years ago. I do miss some of the people I worked with. Stan

Mine was Jan 1, 2005 at 36 years with the company. I too said (to myself....self....) that I had a long and MOST interesting career and it was time to move
on. After a couple years I looked back and said.....jeez, how did I ever have time to work the day job?????

Enjoy, you earned it.

All the very best chuck2015....congratulations Sir....:)

I retired at age 58 (2011) in my 40 th year with the same Company...owners of a Big Inch Natural Gas Pipeline...life is great!

I never thought "freedom / retirement" would be such a beautiful taken for grated thing.........

Bob....

God Bless and Congratulations! I pulled the plug at 60. Been out a year now in a few more days.
Work again? Maybe, but I doubt it.
My income keeps going up and the projects have not stopped.
