Needles in the haystack?

We have a 1958 GMC COE 2 ton farm truck, that would run and be usable, except it needs new exhaust manifolds. I'm told they put the same 370 V8 engine in it as was in a 1958 Pontiac.

Aside from calling or crawling through one junk yard after another, is there a central clearing house for parts like this.......as in an internet search method?

I do not know, I have a V 6 engine that is in a 1962 GMC , wish someone was building one of those, shame to junk the thing. Engine runs perfect.

You may be onto something, as I believe Pontiac and GMC did sort of partner together. Also, and it's a long shot, but I THINK the Pontiac engine components were interchangeable?

Have you tried to google them I was look for a part for a mower once, dealer said nla found over 100 sites that either had nos or aftermarket'

Is this it? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/opg-bbem002/year/1958/make/gmc/model/370

There is also places that custom make manifolds.

55 to 59 was pontiac power, then gmc came up with
the v6.however the inline 2 was the chevy gmc
235,261,230,250 and 292

There is a business that deals only with manifolds House of manifolds Vista ca. 760-598-1210. When I drive by I see a lot of manifolds outside. May have what you need. Stan

Don't forget the mighty "270"!

Weird........manifolds shown was for that engine, and it shows a pair, but then there is a warning that says it does not fit. So it fits, yet it doesn't?

I did find one salvage yard that said he had one for the left side off a Pontiac, but didn't know it's condition. It was going to be $150. So $450 or so for the pair.......if they are a new casting, would be more than I'd like, but would solve my problem.

Thinking back to the yard that had the one, I'm almost certain nothing he has is Internet searchable. He knows what he has.....but you have to call him to ask. Same with two other salvage yards I can think of. They know what they have and where it is, but you have to call or show up to find out.

There are some more sophisticated places like Cook's tractor salvage in MO.......they at least have a salvaged parts inventoried by parts number......for things like tractors, combines, etc., but you still have to know they are out there and have to call to ask.

I suspect there are a lot of Pontiac engines that the manifolds would fit.

Looks like that engine ended in '81, so I would hit some salvage yards, do some comparison. As long as they will bolt to the heads, and don't dump on top of the cross member, they should work.

56 GMCs A 370 and a 350. The 350 came
from Kansas.
