This Year at Rollag

Hello all. I posted this over in the Case forums, but thought I would share. I took a LOT of great photos at this year's WMSTR show.. Also two LONG videos if you want to do the full video tour of the show on my YouTube channel. Below is a link I have of the 150hp Case recreating the 4-engine pull/hillclimb. I tried to give it a vintage look (if you want to see the original video check out the 2019 WMSTR Day Two video). I had my 1941 Case SC center exhaust up there this year for the feature (J.I. Case). Had to get a photo of it near the 150 just to compare size.

Also, here are some photos I took I thought you might enjoy. I was able to get up with Kory Anderson on the 150 for some time while they were in route to the Briden-Roen sawmill, and then got to see her work in the mill from the platform for about an hour or so.

Case 150hp Recreates History

Ken. Thanks for the pictures. I don t know how much time you had in doing the pics but I do appreciate you doing this. Maybe one of these years we ll get there. Thanks alot. Richard

Have to convince my husband that we need to get to Rollag (before we're too old to enjoy it). We've talked of it numerous times... but I've yet to get a firm commitment.

I've been trying to go for 15 years!!!!
Every year something pops up so we can't go!!!
One year we were ready to go, but we decided we couldn't
stand 3 shows in three weekends, especially after we'd
worked at the first two!!
Plus we'd have to drive from Bllgs Mt to Rolog.
Ah, well, maybe next year.

Wow!

I never knew that much old equipment still existed, let alone running, and all at one place!

Nothing like that in Texas, not even close!

My bucket list just got updated!

Thanks!

You guys really need to check out the links I included. It is about as full of a tour as I could get in two days... There is SO much to see and do, and I have about 250 photos I took from the show. There are people that come from all over the world to be there. Norway, Sweden, England, Germany, Australia. This is the SHOW of SHOWS.

It?s worth it. Been to some good old tractor places like Pioneer Power, but Rollag is something else for all things steam, just jaw dropping when you walk in, start walking around, and begin to realize the scope of the place and the tons of iron on those grounds!

Paul

First time I went there...1970...stood next to a steamer in the parade, and the whistle blew! Couldn"t believe how the ground shook!

My cousin and I went on Saturday, we are both retired millwrights, and he had never been there before, so I thought he would enjoy it, and he did. But, the crowds and the air pollution was kind of overwhelming! He was especially interested in the big indoor sawmill, and the spectators were 3 deep all the way around the building, so You had to wait in line just to get a place to stand to watch. It is the one place where you can see more equipment than any other, and the volunteers were very friendly and enthusiastic to talk about their machines, so that was nice.

Ken, off-thread a bit, did Case put cast front wheels on the 41SCs? I spent a lot of time on 40 SC and remember the fender mount lights, center exhaust, and sunburned back plowing corn at 1mph! Leo

Oh, I forgot: our 40 SC had sheet steel wheels and when plowing with a 2-16 JD trip-rope plow, we had donut cast iron weights that hooked into the sheet steel wheel slots, otherwise you couldn't keep the wheels out of the furrow or turn at the end. Leo

You are correct - the 1941 SC's had pressed steel front wheels. These days, they are near impossible to find. Case's hub dimensions are not like any others, so
to find the right size wheel with the correct lug and center hole pattern (that aren't cracked, rusted through, or bent beyond repair) is pretty rare. Same goes
for the original early center exhaust hoods. Case only produced 2388 SC's with center exhaust from serial number 4500001-4503029. I have a registry of all of
the center exhaust Case SC's that I find. So far, I am under 100 left in existence (I have been maintaining the list about 10 years now). I am sure there are
far more than that, but it is finding them and getting the word out about my registry.

It does take a bit of effort - not so much the pictures but the videos that I make. Lots of time in editing and uploading them onto YouTube for all to enjoy. But I enjoy doing it!

Very nice pictures and videos Ken. I will add it was my first time going to this show and was impressed by it. For those considering it there is trams pulled by tractors(one volunteer that helps with the loading said there was around 12 circulating)so you do not have to walk the entire show. There is also a train with boxcars set up with bleachers that circle the area, 210 acres I read on a guide. There is buses that will transport you from the parking areas to the gates. I am not as spry as I used to be and was concerned about the rough ground but it was very nice. I will add I don't think two days is enough time to see it all and prowl through all the buildings.
