Hello I have ?? about new holland choppers , what is the difference between a 717 and a 770 chopper , will a head ( low profile ) from a newer chopper fit on a 770 ?? Thanks Bryan

717 cut and throw, a 770 has an auger and blower I believe.

Don t think the head will fit.....the 717 and 770 were made for a sickle drive head whereas the newer heads all have rotary cutters, unless there is an adaptor kit. 770 were built for 100 hp, a 717 would be maxed at about 80.

Yes you can put a 824 head on a 770. Might need an adapter package but would be a good smaller machine. Do not get the 822 head as they did not feed corn in very well. The 824's have the gathering chains that extend down into the snoots of the head. In my area several farmers have mounted the 824 heads on their Deere choppers. I thought about it but do not chop enough acres anymore. Tom
