Tire ballast volume

A friend at work just bought a new Kubota
L3301. Tires he says read: 15-19.5 r4.
He wants to add liquid ballast. He was
thinking of using washer fluid. He said he
looked at different charts and because of
tire size he can't determine how much
fluid would be needed. Anyone here have a
clue on the gallons per tire on this
tractor ?

Poster below is correct we put 42 gallons in each rear and that is right level with the valve stem at top or about 78% full. We use a mixture of 1/3 methanol 2/3 water and it add around 310 lb or so per tire.

Thanks jm. Appreciated ! My b8200 still charging great since I replaced that voltage regulator a while back. Thanks again for taking the time to help me with that too !

It probably does Loren. I didn't actually see the tires. So 15 wide on a 19.5 rim. Thank you !

No, the rim would be 15 inch bead diameter, and likely about 16" wide at bead. The nominal width of the tire tread would be 19.5 inches.-----------------Loren

Confusing. I thought first number was width. Second being rim diameter. Like an 18.4x34.

I thought I heard somewhere that Kubota does not recommend putting liquid in the tires on their tractors. I may be wrong, but you might want to double check first.

Wrong , ever operators manual tells exactly how to fluid the tires to add weight or as they call it ballast.

2WD Standard tires (ag): Front: 5.00-15. Rear: 11.2-24
4WD Standard tires (ag): Front: 7.2-16. Rear: 11.2-24
Lawn/turf front: 23x8.50-12 (2WD)
25x8.50-14 (4WD)
Lawn/turf rear: 13.6-16
Industrial front: 27x8.50-15 (4WD)
Industrial rear: 15-19.5 (4WD)

It is. They're saying you got the numbers backwards between reading the tire and posting, and it's a 19.5x15, not a 15x19.5...

That said, I can't find any evidence of a 19.5x15, but I do see a 15x19.5 skidsteer tire.

lots of tractor manuals tell you not to fill the front tires full on a 4wd.... due to occillations or something. The odd sizes makes me wonder if its a front 4wd tire????
