Got both hips and knees replaced, now I have bunion problems. Well have had them for years but the joints were more painful. I'm set up for surgery, just have to call and schedule it. But I hesitate, hate to be laid up part of another winter. Talking to some people and they say its the best thing they ever did. And others including the GP doc I see say don't ever want that or wish they had never had it done. What has been any of you all's experience with fixing bunions? Boy when you get over 60, its just fix fix fix.

Hi Doug, my wife had bunions on both feet, she had the first one done about 20 years ago and spent about 3 weeks with cast and crouches.
Other foot done about 10 years ago, no cast, no crotches but had to walk on your heal for a few days and a week later the Surgeon used needle nose pliers to pull these stainless steel pins out and she was good to go.
So now 10 years later the surgery may be even more advanced.

My late wife had one foot done and did all the PT as directed and 6 weeks to the day was standing next to a frozen lake over 10,000 ft up in Rocky Mtn. N. P. She had no more pain in that foot. Had the other foot done a couple of years later, didn't keep up the PT as directed and had problems again within a year. Just one experience.

I have a bunion on my tight foot. I can hurt something fierce and now leaning on the second toe. One Dr says it?s arthritis the others vote bunion. Need to get it looked at again I guess.
you can have surgery to correct or get corrective shoe inserts as shoes are what caused them the first place.I go to my foot doctor and has sent me to a corrective shoe place where they do an imprint on my feet and make corrective soles to fix it. after 3 pair of shoes it seems as though it has stopped. hasn't hurt now in over 3 years. I have had bunions for 40 years. these really do help. I wont do the surgery thing now.
