Neighbor's request........

I was in my shop this afternoon when my next door neighbor walked in, said he had a Ford 7.3 diesel engine with transmission attached coming on a trailer, and asked if I'd use my H Farmall with the loader to unload it for him.

We're neighborly enough I couldn't refuse. He said it weighed about 1100 pounds.

My H picked it up, but just barely.

What I haven't figured out yet, is he knew it was coming when he asked me to unload it for him. If I hadn't been around, or if my H happened to be not running, how did they figure to unload it?

Goose, why not just be glad to help out a neighbor? Instead of trying to figure out some conspiracy theory with him lurking in your hedges.

Kinda what I was thinking I only have one loader so I can load something but have to rely on someone on the other end to unload it . I have a neighbor I can normally find to help but if not then I have to get a plan b or even c ,

He probably had a list of favorites to call.....the question is were you at the top or the bottom of that list :D

(quoted from post at 03:55:12 04/20/20) So he got it unloaded. Now is a bigger question how is he going to set it in the truck when he puts it in?

Caterpillar guy, that is a tiny question.

Goose, I expect that he was expecting it sometime in the coming week then he got a call from the guy just before he came to you asking would it be OK to come today.

Well, nobody here can answer your question .... but your neighbor could have. Mind you, that would have been a bit of an awkward situation that you wanted to avoid and I don't blame you.

He said all he needed out of it was the short block, so I suspect he intends to disassemble it and install it in the truck in pieces. He has a cherry picker that will do that.
