In the barn on this place we're working on I've gotten 3 big trucks and a 55 gal barrel of old feed and seed bags, all in great condition protected from the weather, rats, neatly folded, etc. One trunk is full of the nice old style burlap bags from Southern States Coop, other feed companies and a trunk of old seed bags.Any real value to these bags? I'm going to go thru them and hang some up but way more than I'd ever use.

I would say there is some value to them how much is another story. As was discussed before on this site it was popular to repurpose those bags as pillows, blankets and clothing if they are cloth. The burlap ones I don't know about. Either way anything with old advertising seems to remain popular if for no other reason than to adorn the walls or ceiling of an Applebees, Cracker Barrel or similarly decorated restaraunt.

Thanks right now I'm just trying to get everything moved so I'll be going thru it all later, also getting a couple real nice self standing hand crank corn shellers, nice platform
scales, and much more. This deceased fellow's parents bought the farm in the 1920's then he stayed and farmed it all his life.Appears nothing was ever thrown away in the house or in the farm buildings.Big old house with every room packed.

I checked their website.WOW! If I could get 25% for old farm things they are asking I'd be an instant millionaire.(LOL)Cousin keeps telling me I need a website to sell some of the stuff I have she might be right.

I bought a bunch of really nice ones and displayed on a wall in my garage. Friend came over one day and I donated them to a local fair so others could appreciate them.

When you are done looking thru them all, send me a email as I would be interested in buying a few for our local antique club. Thanks Bill

Yes, they have value. Finding a way to market them is the only problem. Many years ago I went to an estate auction. The couple had operating a feed and seed store in my home town but retired in the 60s. During the time they operated the bagged a lot of products themselves. I bought hundreds of new, never used cloth and burlap bags as well as a lot of new, in the box dishes that were premiums given with flour and feed purchases.

Fortunately, my wife and I had an antique and collectibles store at the time so a selling avenue was available. Took years, but we sold each and every piece at retail.

Yes I would say they have value if they are in good shape like you say. They would have some value to Amish or anyone else that still bags feed and grain. They could have more value as collector items. I have seen people hang them up on the wall. If you have a place to store them they would be worth hauling home. In the current situation maybe you could run a few through an online auction of antiques and collectables. Or look on ebay and see if there is anyone selling similar items and maybe you could use that for a market.Usually there is a big outdoor antique show every summer just east of me in Madison NY where things like that sell good but may not happen this year.

They do have value, some are quite expensive from what I see.

Have you dug any out and looked at them?

If they were not washed they may have been eaten up by weevils.

But if in good shape they could be quite valuable.

Sir, might I suggest contacting "Cracker Barrel"
restaurant corporate.
They can direct you to their purchaser.
Might have a bit of luck with them.

Good luck, jac
