Custom cutters in the plains, TX, OK, KS, NE, SD, ND, and Canada liked the Masseys because of their low profile making
them easier to move by loading on straight trucks. Sometimes, headers were put on trailers behind, sometimes left on
the combine.
 
Some of those had a Chevy 283 power plant buried clear under there. Another engine used by those models was a Chrysler slant 6. I think that Massey used some Ford's, too. Mechanics hated them. There was a guy that was in the Jaycees with me who worked for a big Massey dealer. He said you needed to be a 3-wristed Orangutan change spark plugs in them.
