Viking Mobile-Mill

I picked up 6 in. Viking Mobile-Mill. Basicly, it is a small (6" wide) hammer mill
for grinding hay. It is for hay because it has a chute to feed hay, not grain.
I have a pile of last years grass hay I'd like to grind up for mulch and try to sell.
Right now it has a screen with 1" holes in it, so it grinds hay too fine for mulch.
What size hole size screen would it take to make 1" to 2" ground hay?
I can either modify the old screen or make a new one. The screen is only 6 inches wide
and 32 inches long and I know of a place that would roll it to the proper curve.

I would try a little leaving the screen out. It may end up with what you want where a screen will make it too fine

I had a Viking grinder in my elevator,, to grind the screenings, that was about 6 inches wide too, but had no idea you could get hay screens for it, use to grind a bale or so of Alfalfa in with the ear corn for sows, but that was a slow process too, that was 20 inches wide!!!!

Had a Wetmore hammer mill and it had sickle section staggered with about a inch between them for hay. Never used it I guess it worked.
