Cant figure this out- my engine is missing out out on cyl 2 and 4.....FO is 1-5-3-6-4-2 ; new wires-new cap....I moved some plugs around and didnt change anything...compression good on both ....firing order is right on cap..what the heck? When I pull each wire separately(while running) I dont even see a spark jump from the wire to the cap- I should. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure about why you don't see spark-BUT-the firing order is 1 5 3 6 2 4. Unless you mis-typed you have wires crossed. Mark.

I did try changing those two- today- and didnt make any difference but will put them on right tomorrow. Thanks

Intake manifold gasket leakage, bad plug wires, bad dist.
cap&rotor, bad dist., Points and cond.???

what is the compression readings? (1536240) when did you notice the miss? have you checked the points and gap? how is the rest of spark? blue and jumping up to 1/2 inch of gap?

Well if you have no spark on 2 and 4 then you got something that's defective.

I once got a set of plugs for a car and out of 6 plugs 3 were defective out of the box. They were name brand plugs from an automotive store. I've also gotten defective distributor caps and plug wires. It happens. And if you are buying the cheapest stuff you can find it will happen far more often.

Blue Streak, Standard and Echlin are the standard go to for me for ignition parts. I prefer NGK and AC for plugs, maybe Autolite.

Trouble shoot, trouble shoot and trouble shoot. Poor mans way is to put #2&4 plugs on other wires and see if the fire then. If they work take a wire from another working cylinder and plug it into 2&4 respectively. If they work you have a couple of bad wires. If they don't then most likely you have a bad cap. One other concern is distributor play. Rotate the engine until the points are closed. Then push the shaft in the direction of the rub block on the points. If the points open the distributor shaft bushings are shot. Maybe the shaft too. All stuff that can be done without expense until you start buying parts.

Is that no spark at the new plugs or with tester of some sort. If from new plug then you got your self some bad plugs. If at the test you could have bad plug wires or a bad cap or the distributor bushings are bad and the points do not open like they should on those to cylinders

By the way if there Champion plugs then there is likely to be where your problem is. Get a set of NGK plugs and they will work. Champs are now made in the land of almost right
