Some Actual Field Work

In this video, various clips of me swathing canola by day and night. Also started out in a thunderstorm but it didnt' show up in the camera at night. Could not hear the thunder over the noise in the cab and my ear plugs but there were some impressive flashes. I figured out the power loss problem finally. Fuel filter was ok but I found the screen in the sediment bowl under the tank was pretty near covered with dirt or some foreign material. Finished the canola and planning to start on the oats soon as I can get a replacement hose on the reel drive. Things always seem to break on a long weekend.
This picture shows the difference in maturity between two varieties. I planted the first round with Dekalb canola and then went to Brett Young. You can see the lighter coloured Dekalb crop on left, almost too ripe. Brett Young on the right side of header is greener.

(quoted from post at 11:40:58 08/30/20) Things always wait until the weekend to break. If the dealerships were open then, there would never be a breakdown. Lol!

Actually the dealerships do stay open weekends in harvest here. But I need this hose made up at the local Co-op and not sure I want to ask somebody to come in and open the store just for me.

Around here, the CaseIH dealer
charges $200 to open the doors
after hours on a weekend. Too
rich for my blood. If I don't
break something before noon
Saturday, then Monday it is. I
guess I can see why they would
do it. My great uncle would get
calls at home, on the weekends &
all hours of the night, for
parts & service questions.
Especially when they still
serviced McCormick dairy
equipment. My uncle didn't have
much of a problem with it, but
my aunt would be furious.

Both JD and Case IH dealers will have parts guys at the desk on the weekends through harvest and seeding. No extra charge. And my mistake, this is not the long labour day weekend. Its next week. So tomorrow I go to the Co-op to make up a new hose.
