Power steering leak

I have a ps leak on my Oliver 550 and am wondering if the Lucas 10008 stop leak could help. Most stop leak products are designed for automobile rack and pinion systems, so would some other product be more suited to an old tractor ps system?

i have yet to see or find something that stops an oil leak other than fixing the problem

Stop leak will help if the seals and shafts are intact, and the seals are just age hardened and worn. It works by softening and swelling the seals.

But if there is excess wear, pitting, scoring, or the seals are split or blown out, nothing short of a rebuild will fix it.

But it won't hurt to try. It's not like radiator stop leak, it won't clog the system.

We had a Caravan at work that had a bad leak at the PS pump. It took 2 bottles of Lucas, but the
leak stopped. It started seeping a year later and another bottle stopped it. We kept it another 3
years and never replaced the pump.

Probably be better to just go ahead & replace the seal in the bottom
of the steering tube
