Found a good auto electric shop

I took my 98 Dodge Ram in for a smog check last week. The smog test shop said the socket where they plug in their machine wasn't getting the full information from the computer. I made an appointment with an auto electric shop to find the problem. I got a call today, and they told me everything works we couldn't find a problem. Here's the good part. The electric shop drove my truck to the smog shop, where it passed the smog test. The electric ship didn't charge me anything for their time. This is why I had wait a week for an appointment. When a shop goes the extra mile to do good service he will always get customers. He could have charged an inspection fee like so many shops do, but he didn't. My Dodge is ready to pull my tractors for another two years, until I go through this smog baloney again. Stan
 
Where are they. I need a good shop. I've had an Oldsmobile at a Chevrolet dealership for two months with some issue with the electronic ignition. Think tomorrow I will give up on them and get the car back. It runs but idles rough.
 
I took a 6v Autolite starter to my local autoparts to test it. He said he can't but has someone to send it to. I was skeptical (of course it would need something) but it came back with an OK...and no charge. He wouldn't tell me where he sent it.
 
We are fortunate to have a very good starter generator shop locally (50 miles) who have been in business for several decades. On numerous occasions I have taken them a generator or starter to check/repair and they know I am out of town so they usually will make an effort to get it taken care of while I do other business. They are well known in the community for their good work. Reasonable prices, too. 30-40 years ago there were two mag shops in one of our local towns. Now there are none. Just hope they can continue the shop after the current owner/operator retires. Too many independent places just sell out or close down when the owner retires or gets too old to continue the operation. Be thankful for them while we can.
 
olds is just parked. If it had two months of work charges against it, you would be very under water!
