Milwaukee 18volt string trimmer

I am thinking about a cordless weed eater and was thinking Milwaukee 18 volt as we have plenty of batteries. Anyone have one or experience with one? Use for light trimming around the house and maybe under electric fence in the pastures. How much run time per battery? Decent amount of power? With today's poor gas thought this might be a good way to go. Thanks Tom

I have one. It works good for normal stuff. I like the low speed option. Works good on light stuff and extends battery life greatly. Use high speed on the heavy stuff and the battery drains faster. The 9.0 battery lasts as long as I want to use it. Not as young as I used to be. It is a little heavy with that 9.0. For that reason most of the time I use a 5.0. Run time is a little under half the 9.0 but changing the battery once is still easier on my arms. You will like it if you decide to get one.

When I got mine they had an extra tool with it so I got an edger. They work great. I also got a pole saw. Good tools and well worth the money.

I bought the Dewalt version in the hopes of the wife using it around the house. It was much too heavy at the trimmer head. My arm got tired very quickly and the battery didn't last long enough... The Milwaukee version felt better balanced but I didn't want to reinvest in a different battery type.

I run the pre-mixed ethanol free TruFuel on the 2 strokes. I don't have too many problems with bad gas with this stuff.

I have one and love it. Its not for heavy stuff but around the house its great. I like that I don't have to mess with it not starting or running right, the wife can just grab it and go. I got her the hedge trimmer to.

I have a Shindawa 56 volt unit, made in Japan by the same company that makes Echo trimmers and chain saws. I ordered it from Amazon for $129.

It will compete with any gas trimmer I've ever used, and after using it I'll never buy another gasoline trimmer. It's well balanced and has a good feel to it. The owner's manual says run time on a full charge is approximately 25 minutes, but in normal use I've used it from a half hour to an hour and the indicator on the battery will still show 3 or 4 bars.

The Milwaukee was a good purchase for me....wife likes using it (Great!)

When I bought it, came with a pole saw attachment. Bought an extension for that, very handy.

The 9ah battery lasts a good while, I have a 12ah battery came with a chainsaw, you'll be done (tired) by the time you run both of them out. Like others have said, handles around the house stuff great.

Since you've already got Milwaukee batteries, I'd go for it.

I have 1 also, like the others have said its great! Wife uses it mostly. Only gripe I have is how you load the string. You need 3 hands to load it tight or if the string is loaded loosely it wont release and gets plugged up.

Having plenty of batteries is the best reason for buying another Milwaukee tool.

I bought a Black and Decker cordless electric trimmer because I already own a Black and Decker cordless drill, and I have many batteries.

Ive had one for a couple years. Had several batteries already so was a good purchase. I love it compared to a gas one. No muss no fuss, just snap in a battery and go plus so much quieter. Usually can do my whole yard with one battery. String loading is a bit of a pain but it seems to last a long time.

The neighbor has one and seems to like it. My only recommendation is the newer version with the split shaft to allow the option of changing the head I personally know how handy a pole saw can be.
