Free old combine

Combining at shows seems to be catching on. It takes some
acres versus a threshing machine which can be supplied by
off site acres, but there are many who have not experienced
or seen a pull type combine operate.

20 years ago there was an old gentleman in our area that farmed 400 acres 1950s style with a JD R and IH 141. I rode with him one time on the 141 and what I remember is the engine fan blowing all the dust/chaff right at the operator. He sat on the seat turned a little to the
left to shield himself. I stood further back out of the blast next to the grain tank.

I got a friend that had a show on his farm, he had about a 100 acres of wheat, it made about 75 bushels acres that year, the renter open the field, and then the rest of us straight cut, with his combines, I furnished my tractor for his pull type 460 Case combine,it only had a 10 foot head, but it was big enough that year, his wife furnished the noon meals in a machine shed, we all had fun!

I suspect there are countless farmers country wide that might pay someone to haul the hulk away. Hopefully there is a scrap dealer within a reasonable distance or it might be difficult to even give it away.

Gave away a JD model 40 about 3 weeks ago. Realization has set in....some projects are
just not going to happen.
