Outrageous prices revisited....

This is a more realistic Tractorhouse price. It is an auction. 'Bout the only way to go these days to save a penny, but not always.

Would have been a happy camper with the auction purchase. Heck, I would have bid it up a bit more.

I've seen Meridian Equipment listings many times and they are priced extremely high on everything in my opinion. But it may be their "I don't want to sell it price " lol

The price of new tractors and equipment has gone sky high,so it figures used prices will go up too.I know of several people that have spent big $$$$$$ to completely rebuild an older tractor to use on their farms but still only have a fraction in them that a new replacement would cost.

I've bought a few pieces of equipment recently, the auction prices plus all the fees were higher than what I could find at a dealer.

I don't know what kind of scam Meridian is running, but you'll notice EVERYTHING they have listed is out of this world high, and they have a LOT of stuff listed.

They must also list for others. All three 80s on there right now are theirs and they're all listed for the same money. In the serial number, one says DODGEVILLE, one says NWMINN, and the stock number of the third one is the same as the second one but clearly different combines (think it's a phone number).

I wish there was a block feature for users to avoid viewing certain dealer's listings. They are so close to me that they using plug up the first or second page with their waste of time ads.

They do seem to list things for others... they had some forage boxes for sale once that were also listed at half the price in Sheboygan craigslist...

At one point in the '80's, there was a WI Deere dealer that had everything listed at outrageous prices. The story was they had to sell everything at top dollar plus, as that was what they had listed it to be
worth with their bank! They were in deep enough the bank wasn't going to let it go for less than the client valued it at. Needless to say it didn't end well.

I agree with what others have said. Everything Meridian has listed is bad high. They had a couple of 5 series Deere combines and some 300 Deere pickers. The pickers were closer to reasonable than the combines but all of them were the highest that were for sale.

Nobody's using an old IH 80 pull type combine to seriously farm with. Those are collector's items, and then only for a certain kind of collector. The price they're asking for this combine has nothing to do with the price of new equipment. New combines these days could swallow that machine whole and not even slow down, and probably spit a few nuts into the grain tank while spreading the rest as chaff on the field behind it.

This is purely to catch the dummy who really really wants one, has to have it NOW, and has the money to burn.

Yup, the 1850 I bought when Jeff started farming cost me $6200 with a dump trailer included. Over 6 years he's put a clutch in it and rebuilt the hydro-power, and just last summer rebuilt the engine. The running total would now be somewhere in the $20,000 range. Lotta waupum for sure, but where are you gonna find a "fresh out of the box" 90-95 hp tractor for $20,000 that you can work on yourself and tow start when the battery is down?

Guess that would depend on who wants it (no not the expensive one). I would love to have a small pull type combine for my small potatoes acreage. An
IH 60 on through the 80, Case F2, or any All Crop would do. Wouldn't turn down a Deere 12A either. It would see seasonal use. If I was running 10,000
acres, it would most certainly be a gigantic modern combine with a 40' flex platform. Probably a Claas, Gleaner or a Fendt. Not really impressed with
the green or red ones, even the IH heritage 50 series. The paint is nice, but if you put lipstick on a pig....

Don't have barn space for one at the moment, so all of those small ones are out of the question for the time being.

It's unfortunate those 300s are priced through the roof. Wouldn't mind having one & Rockford is only a couple hours away. Oh well, I have a better chance of finding a NI Super Picker closer to home anyhow.

I noticed they had stuff from all over listed. Kind of a stretch for consignments. Probably use some of that money to make their TH listings free to
them. The block feature would be nice. They should take a lesson from eBay.

Meridian was a Deere dealer & they were dumped a few years back. It would explain the JD pricing.

Which Deere dealer are you referencing? I almost wonder if that's the one the BTO up the road went through. Seems that's how he got his green equipment at fire sale pricing. Something happened between the bank & the dealership. Don't recall what.

The buyers premiums have been expensive at times. Seen a couple as high as 15%. Too rich for my blood. I've been getting bargain basement prices on auction items with premiums around 5%. Then again, I've been shopping for bargain basement items.
