Should] I move to different zip code

No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to watch it.
Try turning it off and go read a book for a change.
Sheesh!

Stopped the drain 16 years ago. My wife does some netflicks, no issues. I read sience Journals and science fiction novels 2 or 3 a week. Jim

Yes, way too many commercials...about drug medications. And the 3-4 dozen side effects🥴🙃😝
I counted 18 commercials in one show commercial break. Some are so stupid, and some one can’t really figure out what they are advertising.
Let your doctor prescribe what is best for you.

Not a lot of help here Wilson. Medicare to me is important, good question.

Seems a lot of people here have their head in the sand and do not know what is happening to our once GREAT country.

" My dad always told me to take the news with a grain of salt and make my opinion off of that, but if you ignore what is going on you are going to lose"
My $.02

I only watch Fox news when I am eating, and that's about too stop. Even with that little TV time I get my share of commercials. Stan

It’s -11* with WCF of -25 and a good day for TV out here in ricks and cows. I watched the last couple “Millenial Farmer”, a few “Vice Grip Garage”, and season 2 of “Leave it to Beaver”. That Beaver is something else.

(quoted from post at 21:13:33 02/06/21) Most people don't know but the Chinese are taking it over. Too many sheep and too much political correctness.

x2 on the sheep, ready for slaughter

You must be on Mediacom. They just raised it again last month. I rarely watch it as my back is to it on this gadget, but, my wife is house bound and spends almost all day in her lift chair so I don't want to deny her the little pleasures she has.

She knits a little, crochets a little, reads a lot of books keeps the tube on for noise so she says. She used to do a lot of craft work but can't do that anymore. And so it goes. It is totally out of line though for what is on.

Move to the valley of the sun, 50 or more channels on an antenna, for free! But, if you stay here in the summer, it's 120F, and it will cost $300 to run your AC.

Wilson, are you talking about where you can get additional social security money? I checked, and in our state, it was only the two most populous counties. I think its a big city cost of living thing, so if you're out in the sticks, probably not.

You can tell I don't watch tv much as I sure missed what you were talking about. That $144 caught my eye as that was my last bill from Mediacom.

Go one better and move to OAN. You really will be informed then! Be the sage of the diner,by golly!

The only way to get away from the TV ads is to get rid of the TV. The ads wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so offensive. Don't know how they thing they are encouraging you to buy from them. One car insurance company I would drive without insurance before I would get theirs.

Are you looking to get rid of the advertisements, to get rid of the $144 per month price tag or both? It is easy to get rid of most of the $144 per month cost by switching to streaming and to over-the-air broadcast TV. Getting rid of the ads raises the price you pay, much like radio. How much of the $144 per month is for your internet service? Some rural locations are limited to only one internet service provider.

Many younger farm families are choosing to live in town and let dad commute to the farm. Home resale value, better access and lower cost of utilities like: internet; natural gas; water; and sewer; proximity to schools and extracurricular activities; reduced total mileage on vehicles, dropping number of farms raising livestock, shifting location of rented farmland, etc. all factor into those decisions.

I don't have cable but get about 50 over the air channels and also another 50+ Samsung channels - probably over the internet and Youtube. So, I guess without the commercials to pay for my free TV I'd have to pay to get TV. But paying for TV and still getting commercials is like adding insult to injury. That being said, I timed the commercials on a one hour show and the total commercial time was 15 minutes - 25%.

We managed to survive close to 40 years without an idiot box but, when I remarried 18 years ago, the new bride was a townie and didn't think she could lie without one. She got with the program fairly quickly; it will sit for months without ever being turned on....
