These are the best pets we have ever had.
Miss Kitty died last year and The Bear is not long for this world anymore.
They were best friends to us and to each other.
We have a shop cat now that showed up, but she is fed in the shop and is not welcome in the house.
She catches the occasional mouse around the shop, so I guess she earns her keep.

Guess I'm not sure who's who?

My dog is petting me, while I'm petting his brother.

This was the day.... or two after rescuing these dogs personally. I think they were pleased. To make a long story very short, the white dog, Ragnar, ended up back with his owner when he got out of jail a couple months later & his mom straightened him out. It's the only story I've heard of where an abusive owner made a 180º turn around with this life. They're still doing good to this day.

My old Brittany spaniel Rusty. My boss got into the booze at a Pheasants forever auction and bought Rusty. He had just gotten married to a uppity little doll that wouldn't share an apartment with a pup and she pretty much said "one of you dogs has got to go". Think he gave about 500 bucks for him and I bought him for $80.
He was the coolest dog I ever seen, smart, hyper, lot a fun.
Then he started to get tumors on one hind leg, after a yearly surgery for 3 or 4 years he got put to sleep.

Many good experiences and memories of dogs. One of the pets we had that we had fun with and miss now was the peacock. His presence always caught people by surprise and he was a 24-7 security system.

All of 'em except for two Sulphur Crested Cockatoos(like Fred from TV show, Baretta)....Meanest dang birds I ever encountered.

Maddy Josie and Bob Cat sorry no pictures.
this AM when I let Maddy out Josie got blast of cold air in face and ran other way.

Blossom was the first pup I kept, out of the first litter I bred. She was a natural, pointing her first wild pheasant in western Kansas at 9 months old. Three of us and her daddy walked by a rooster, she stayed put and made the retrieve on the kill. She was my go-to when guiding clients. All business, a little bit of attitude, but never failed to find a bird or make a retrieve. Miss her bunches. I've raised and trained Brittanys for over 25 years. Still have some of her bloodline in my kennel. The first 2 pictures was from her last hunt in 2017.

With her daddy, at 2 1/2 years old.

My current favorite pet is someone else's dog. He was sitting in the driver's seat, looking at me in the parking lot as I went into a sandwich shop where I'm a regular. He was sitting there just like your big German Shepherd but this was a pit bull mix.

There was only one other person in the store when I went in, so being nosy I asked about her dog. How old? What's his name? That kind of thing. Just being nosy. But I'm fascinated by owners and their pets, so my interest was genuine. The woman told me she'd had the dog only three months, and that it came from West Virginia where a rescue operation had put it up for adoption. Malnourished, and showing signs of dog-fighting injuries, the organization told her they thought the dog had been used as bait in the training of other, more vicious dogs for fighting. Terrible experience for any animal, to say the least.

But in a short time her dog Clark bonded with her, got along with her other pets, and was obviously eager to please, as she put it. Grateful dog, got a break in life, a second chance. So that's my favorite pet right now.

I have a couple cats and we get along ok. Much more independent than most dogs, they still show affection in their own way.
