Too Much Oil

I changed the oil in my M6060 Kubota. It called for 12.7 quarts. So I'm must of been having a senior moment and was thinking two quarts to the gallon. Using bulk oil I put 6 gallon containers in the engine. Then started it until it reach oil pressure, probably about 2 minutes. Shut it off and checked the oil. Of course its way over full and I'm thinking what the heck. Loosened the drain plugs and let some drain out about a gallon then rechecked it. It was still way overfull then the light came on. I drained it off to the proper level but haven't started the tractor yet. Did I do any harm to the engine is my question.

I can't remember his handle but there was a guy on here a while back that had a M6060 and had allot of problems with it and kept taking it back to the dealer. It was finally determined it was way over full of engine oil.

I dont think a couple minutes would have done much.

Too much oil and the internal parts have to slosh around in the oil, frothing it up and turning moving parts into oil pumps. Over time the extra energy of slapping the oil wears on things; the frothy oil doesnt pump right, doesnt lube right with all the air in it. Over time this is bad.

You didnt have the time part. So it should be ok.

there is a couple things you can do. first start and stop it for 5 or 10 seconds to see if the light goes out. remove sending unit and pressure test to see if oil shoots out when cranking it over. if going to start it best put a hose and gauge in there and check actual oil pressure.

You should be fine. If any question about it drain at all out. Save all of it for add up oil. Refill to proper level from your bulk. Filter will be OKAY also. Or just let it set until ALL the frothing is out of it, just several hours or overnight. DOUG

Senior moments will happen more often once they started.
I take memory pills but forgot where I put them

Maybe I should have worded it differently. The light coming on was me realizing or should I say
remembering there is 4 quarts to the gallon not two. Probably got it confused with two pints to a
quart. Hopefully I won't make that mistake when I start mixing up herbicide in the sprayer in a few
weeks. No light on the tractor just the low oil light that went out right away after the start up.

I got a friend that had oil leaking out of the crankcase seal at the front of his Super A Farmall.
His hydraulics kept quitting and he kept adding oil to them.
It was going around the seal in his hydraulic pump and into the engine.
He kept using the tractor and when I worked on it, I drained 6 gallons of oil out of the oil pan.
Tractor was still running fine.
I put a seal in his hydraulic pump and put new oil in the engine and everything is still fine all these years later.
As little as you ran it, you should be fine.

It will be fine,I was changing oil in dump trucks(rained out) all day. The boss said grab that flatbed and service it and just look it over, as it had just been added to the fleet. I dumped 7 gallions in it just like all of the others. The flat bed was a gas engine and not a Cummins. Should had been 8 quarts. It was fine.

You will be okay. Just get the oil level back to normal and run it again. Better too much oil than not enough!
