A friend called me about rebuilding the pump on a Deere 5020. The tractor was great runner maybe 6 years ago, but the engine had to be rebuilt due to liner erosion.
Then the injection pump was not working. I coouulld have it rebuilt, but it would have cost one week with shipping back and forth.
The metering valve was stuck but he got it freed up.
The injection pump was not pumped fuel at the injectors (new remains one from Deere). I knew it was the plungers stuck. I advise him to put pressurized fuel trough one of the injector opening using an injector tester pump while the rotor is lined up.
He tried 400psi first, that did not work.
Then he got the pressure at 3000 psi and cranked the engine. He said there was some nose and sure enough fuel came pouring from all the injectors pipes.
He reinstalled and tractor fired right up.

This is a 1970 5020 with 12v system that was shipped to Spain when new, like many.
