Seat ideas for a hay ride wagon/people mover

I'm rebuilding an old hay wagon/flat rack for hay rides that may get
used as a people mover at tractor shows to. If we ever get them back.
I was thinking of using school bus seats but they typically do not
have any arm rests or restraints. Which normally would be fine.
If it's not an insurance or liability issue.
I could build benches out of wood as well. That's an option.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any better options?

One family in my community, used a old flair box too ride in,but the trouble was that are facing the wrong direction gain wagon, they just put some planks in their to sit on, but only held about 8 people. The school bus seat work good,i have seen them used in at Rollag Minnesota.

Put 2 rows of seats down the middle, both facing out. Add a safety/ hand rail along all 4 edges and
steps on the rear.

If the school bus seats were at the outer edge facing inward folks could face each other while talking and riding. This would also give the fall protection at the sides and front. With the steps at the back. Might even have room for a set back to back down the middle or a rail to hold onto as they move to and from the seats.

I did one a few years ago for may daughters wedding, the best pic I have on the computer as walk in the center and seats on 3 sides. if you can guess there was room for coolers too. old hay wagon I picked up at auction, all angle frame with car siding around it.

Bus seats have seat belts if new enough.
Even if not required or ordered by the school district or state.

Of course the school district might remove them.

What do you need arm rest for??

P.S.

Install bus seats facing forward and spaced same as on the bus.
The seats are designed to provide some protection to the persons behind the seat in a front end collision.

I have seen one built like a hay rack or bundle rack with sides and bench's built into the side full length and rear entrance steps. If wide enough you can have a bench in the middle.

I had my first hayride in the 8th grade. My dad pulled 2 wagons with 24 grain sides behind our Farmall
H.
I did the same for my kids in Junior High and we have done them since. My kids are now in their 50's.
My son and I built (and he now has) one 16'long bed on a light running gear with 36 high stock type
sides and end gates. Both sides are hinged to be able to fold down to make a stage for a bandstand.
(My grandsons play in a band) The rear steps fold up so no one can ride on them. We only used bales of
straw for seating.
It has side marker lights and tail lights for night hay rides. How you power them is up to you.
We did not make provision for any type of roof but have discussed it.
Your need as a transport from a parking lot to the show gate should consider having many seniors and
rambunctious kids. Be safe.
Good luck and have fun.

Make sure you have a big enough tractor for the wagon weight, or stay away from
downhill runs. There has been a couple of instances around here, where the wagon
weight pushed the tractor off the road on a hill. Didn't end well. Not trying to be
Debbie Downer, just be aware.
