Help... Started to restore my 1952 M and I noticed when I turn my ignition switch to the lights off position my tractor shuts off. MY light are working fine any help would be much appreciated Thanks George.

Bad contact inside the switch for the on
position. You may be able to carefully
take it apart and clean the contacts or
just replace it. The new switch is
expensive from Deere but that's where I
bought mine. It's still made here by the
original vendor. Several vendors on eBay
offer them but you have to be careful as
most of them are misleading and will not
work. If it says it will work for
anything else other than an M it's the
wrong switch.

Could be mis wired. I just typed JD M wiring diagram in to google and got an answer to your question on this site with pictures and a wiring diagram.

I had the same problem on my MT several years ago. I pried up the tabs on the back of the switch and cleaned up some contacts, put it back together and it worked fine. I figured I didn't have much to loose by trying.
