Hayride wagon almost done

I'm waiting on an LED flasher unit to arrive and I need to mount
a slow moving vehicle sign yet, but otherwise it's done for now.
I asked about seat ideas but until I decide, I'm just going to use
straw bales like we always have. At least it's easier to get on/off.

Royse. Sometimes simple is much better. I think you did a fine and safe job with your project. As long as some adults are watching over the small kids
and I'm sure make sure of that. Looks perfect. Wingnut

(quoted from post at 17:26:14 06/20/21) Hit a few yard sales and pick up a few old couches. LOL
LOL I once put an old recliner in my hunting blind.
One evening I went out there and sat down hoping for some deer.
Then I noticed "bugs" crawling all over me. They weren't bugs.
They were wasps. Good thing it was fairly cold! Won't do that again!

I imagine a 2 bar railing around the perimeter. One bar at a foot, and another at 2 feet. This gives at least a modest retaining guard against
falling off with nothing to grab. A 1X6 dasher board vertical along the bottom would keep straw from being spread down the road. We did chrch and 4-H
hay rides every year and used a Box wagon with 24 sides. Jim

When I was cleaning up the scrap lumber I thought the cutouts for
the lights would make cool wooden wheels, so I made a little plant
stand out of them. Better than burning them I guess!

Looks good. If those are amber lights change them if you're on the road. Red back amber forward. Just trying to save a problem with the blue/red light guys.

Hayrides are great! We have been doing them since I was in Junior High School, 65 years ago. Our last
wagon that we built is at my son's house and I'm after him to schedule a hayride for October.
Enjoy and be safe.

Looks real good sir. We have an old
cotton wagon we are going to use as a
personel wagon. I am going to use old
church pews for seating I think. I think
they will work good.

Nice project, but put a stout 3' wall/railing on the front. This is where people fall off and get run over.

Don't think it can't happen to you. It's why they're called accidents.

Down on the Texas Coastal Plains, very near the Gulf of Mexico, one Goose hunts out of a burrow dug in the
ground with a flat straw matt (level with the terrain) you flip back, stand up and blast away. Well you get to
the blind in the dark, and Rattle Snakes abound down there......you can fill in the blanks. Oh and it usually
doesn't get cold enough to cause them to hibernate in the winter. No big deal really (yeah right) just adds
zest to the thrill of the hunt.

Back to the subject.....wood working is excellent. Nice job.

Beautiful! People are going to enjoy that a lot.
My experience riding on wagons was work not play but I would love to go back in time for a few hours to once again experience riding a wagon across a field of freshly baled hay on a hot summer day.

I borrowed one from a friend a couple times that used seats from an old school bus. I have a picture of it somewhere. If I locate it I'll put it up sometime.

But that's how we change drivers! Get off the wagon, walk the tongue to the tractor,
relieve the driver and then they walk the tongue back to the wagon!

Just kidding, how about a combination railing/bench seat at the front?

Royse,I like it,But you will have to be careful crossing any low ditches or low spots that the back wheels can drop off in and tear your low steps off.
Straw bales will work good for seats.I'ts a hay ride aint it?That way I can borrow it when I put up hay.(No benches in the way).lol
