Cub brush guard which would you do

So I am making a brush guard for my cub so that trees etc. don't dent things.
So do I use vertical bars or horizontal bars or do I do and X/star??

What do you think would be the best??

Thanks

My neighbor made a grill guard out of steel catwalk grating. It is heavy though, might be too strong for a Cub.

Well I would think horizontal 1 inch bars would only be as strong as the vertical two pieces they are all welded to.
One inch bars vertical, welded to main horizontal bottom member would each be resistant to bending into grill.
A 1/4 inch strap over the upper ends to tie them together would really resist being pushed to grill.

I asked my self-- which am I going to run into branches that stick out sideways, or vertical tree trunks. I answered, well if I hit trees, there is an issue with my thinking about the path I am taking. If A branch leaps out and fondles the grill, i didn't see it. No contest, vertical bars. Jim

And if you look closely behind the wheels on mower I attached a 2x6 that prevents anything like short stumps or rocks from getting to mower blades.

Star is tough to make nice with bar stock use the vertical and weld 1/4 by 1/2 inch long bolts to the corners sticking out to the front and put 1/8 expanded flattened metal useing the bolts as studs to hold it on. Jim

At this time it doesn't have a grill plus one of the tie rods has been bent by someone before I got it so I am making sure those things stay out of harms way

(quoted from post at 22:32:29 06/23/21) How many trees are you actually going to push down with a Cub? Good size corn stalk would make it spin.

Now that made me laugh right out loud. Still chuckling.
