Where to Find Large Tarps

Does anyone know where to buy large tarps reasonably priced? Need to cover a 90' x 150' area due to the rain that never quits. Thanks in advance!

Ive heard the interstate billboard sign companies will sometimes sell cheap the used billboard (advertising) tarps. Wingnut

My late uncle had a sewing machine to repair tarps used on semi's.
May want to go to a truck stop and ask a trucker if they knows of a a repair shop with
a dual needle sewing machine. Perhaps repair shop could sew together tarp.

I wanted to buy his sewing machine. My cousin got it.

Take a look at Harbor Freight if the have something of the quality you need the prices are pretty good.

where are you I'm in eastern wa and the local hay co. here gives away huge tarps I just got a 75x75 free

I have a friend who works for the local billboard company and he has given me 14'x42' 'flex face' billboards that last way longer than the blue tarps. They have the billboard image on one side that has been printed by large format printers and the backs are usually black. The only condition he requested is that the image (McDonalds ad, or other) not face up because of copyright reasons. I cut the billboards down to fit over my tractors and other equipment and hold them on with spring clips. I'd say the billboard tarps last 5 - 10 times longer than an ordinary tarp. Over time, they develop mesh-like holes where they get scraped over a sharp surface but still, generally, shed water. They are very tough. My friend said that they have trouble disposing of the used billboards because they contain so much petroleum product. There are tarp companies on the web that sell tarps made from billboards but free is a good thing.

Yep, free down here too in Florida.
For a while they were donating them for use after a hurricane for emergency roofing.
But whoever is in charge of storing them told them to stop because the had no more room for them.

I get all I can haul for fee also.

If your looking for some, google " outdoor advertising " and you can visit the nearest company to you. You will get some if you visit vs asking over the phone. The manager likes to hear you want some to cover hay or shelter animals, etc. Promise not to sell them on CL, etc. And yes, they do not want them face up, but nobody does. The shiny side has the UV resistant coating.

depends what u are covering? like does it have to be one big tarp ? roof. race race track, hay, building site???

I could not be more grateful for all of the responses! I'm trying to cover a horse arena that unfortunately this year thas seen more rain than use. I will get ahold of the bill board companies and see how I come out. Again , thank you everyone!!!

i thought arena's have a roof on them. or is it just and outside riding deal. or is it that the roof dont have tin on yet.?

I'm talking about the big signs you see along the Hwys. most now days are made on a trap that has the logo painted on them. Many sign/billboard companies sell them cheap after they take he sign down

This is an outdoor riding arena. Someday I'll have a roof over her but right now I'm just trying how to stop the Illinois rain.

You will likely need a crown down the center of your arena. Like a road to shed water.
Especially if you have to use several tarps overlapped at the edges.
Otherwise the water will still get under the tarps and then stay there as long as the tarps are still on.

I bought a 14' x 48' for a little over $100. Cit it in half and joined the two 14' wide pieces at the ridgeboard on my 20' x 20' tractor barn.. Works great till I have time to put the metal roof on. For a while the had a buy one get one free deal.

Right now I've got it high centered ( slightly) that way it does like you were talking about. It runs off to either end. It has about 4 inches of sand on top Which dries faster than if it were dirt but the base is clay mix and where it would normally be hard as a brick after spring is over, this year we've had buckets of rain and it can get very slippery and dangerous if you were to ride on it.
