interesting corn year around here

here in northern Indiana and even NW Ohio i've seen guys out combining corn, the seed companies picking corn, guys filling silo and guys still irrigating corn (and beans, we're dry).

don't usually see all of those situations at the same time.
 
Farmers are still irrigation beans. Most corn has turned and ears have dropped. Expect to see them harvesting real soon. Corn was planted before frost date, got frozen 2 x and still looks good.
Beans without irrigation are turning.
 
The neighbor's beans were irrigated and the field is more yellow and gold, than it is green. Northern WI.
 
Perhaps you have a shorter growing season and cooler nights.
All bean fields are green in central Indiana. A little yellow where the irrigation doesn't water the edge of the field
 
We had a dry summer here in eastern Nebraska.

A neighbor has a dryland corn field next to my shop. I walked out into it last week, and the ears are only 1/2 to 2/3 the size they should be. They were denting by then, so you know they won't get bigger. At least half of them aren't heavy enough to drop.

Irrigated should be OK.

I think soybeans have taken a hit, too.
 
Soybeans turning along Wi/Il border some corn silage starting. Very dry we missed a lot of the pop up storms, it's nice the prices are dropping in Chicago.
 
we started on corn Sunday afternoon here in southern Indiana. Lots of pivots going especially where the river got a lot of the crop and was replanted.
 
I dont know what irrigation is here, but we have very wide variation on crop maturities both corn and beans.

Both by varieties/ maturities and by soil type. Very splotchy fields.

We were finally dry here, extremely so. Makes for interesting results on our very heavy typically wet ground.

Neighbor is harvesting corn today. Just saw his semi go by heading to town. Neighbor had his green machines out a few days ago.
