Battery disconnect

I ordered this from Amazon last night, $7 +tx, claims to be good for 500 amps. I got one at HF a few years ago and installed in our sons boat, but HF doesn't sell them anymore, just the kind on the end of the battery cable. I have been disconnecting the ground on our Farmall C when I'm not using it this summer, and the battery stays up, this will make it easier.

That switch is rated at 500 amp for 5 seconds and 100 amp continuous.

Probably work fine for your Farmall.

I wouldn't expect one to hold up too well on a diesel.

I have a slightly different kind I purchased at an auto swap meet. You turn a knob to compress what is inside it to make a connection, loosen the knob and it is open. I have it on a 2004 Silverado with the 8.1, its several years old and still seems to work ok. If the truck set for a couple of weeks the battery would be dead, sometimes but not always.

Looks like that will work. I tried 2 of the green knob style and they are junk for different reasons...each had a different problem.

I have a disconnect on the dash of my 8N.
Similar to that.
On my VAC Case, I have a knife switch since I located the battery on the side of the tractor.

I have two of those on my two pulling tractors. I use them when I am trailering them and when they are sitting. They work very well for the light duty that an old tractor will put them through.

The initial inrush current will be what ever the battery current can output. It would be in the millisecond range tho then it will settle down to normal starter current draw. While in operation Its a fixed contact it should handle what normally can be thrown at it.
