Got my collards and kale planted yesterday. Also a row of garlic and onion bulbs. And a row of beets.

Then hooked the scrap metal trailer up and cleaned up beside the truck, bad habit of getting home , throwing the scrap fencing or roofing out. Every now and then it's gotta be cleaned up.

Hopefully in a few weeks they will look like the ones in my backyard. They are some good eating!

I am surprised they have done as well as they have due to how dry we have been. They were planted sometime in the last half of September. Our summer weather lasted until mid October. We were 74 today.

Here the first of September and hope for a few good frost before thanksgiving. Turnips etc the same if you want big turnip roots mid August is best.

My grandpa had Turnips year he was famous for them. He turned the dirt with a disc bottom plow and sewed the seed you had to use a shovel to dig them. I dug more than my fair share to sell some would be big as your head. I always rowed/ridged mine high as I could get it it made them EZ to harvest.

Yes its usual dry, October has always been dry up till the last 5 years are so. I figure its getting back to a normal pattern. My rule of thumb for outside building if its not done by Dec. 15 you will be working in a sloppy mess...
