Yellow Cubs

One on left is going to Louisiana in the morning. One on right to south Alabama this weekend. The long stipe in the shed is staying.

Growing up we had several Cubs including a yellow low boy. I never warmed up to that low boy, I prefeered the regular Cubs.

I remember a couple of local tobacco farmers I helped back in the late 1960s having the newer style yellow cubs. I've never worked one of them, but were always told they had a bit more power than the red ones. Congrats on bringing these tractors back to a productive life and making them good, useful tools.

Got a yellow lo-boy too

Hard to get on and off. Might be lower, but the seat, steering wheel and fender sure get in the way .....

I had a yellow loboy with a one armed loader on it.When I put it out front for sale it attracted dozens of lookers right off.I think it attracted the kind of people that wanted something with a shovel, but really had the mindset of garden tractor owners.A lot of,it's small,so it must be cheap. It was kind of funny to watch the lookers, most would drive in,look at the price, and fly out faster than they flew in.You could tell the ones that knew what they were looking at right off. They would crawl all over it whether they looked at the price or not.It sold in two days.

Perhaps GP can stop by and pick up your Terramite, so you can live your dream, a cub and terramite.

Kevin, that is the biggest collection of yellow Cubs I've seen since the Red Power Roundup.
As to your yellow Loboy, that should be a 1959/61 ish, from the oval Loboy emblem. Next model after mine. I think it would have been born as red, not yellow. IIRC, Yellow didn't start showing up until the later 60s.
Agree that they are a pain to get on and off.

I think you're doing a good thing GP with saving these tractors and getting them back into hands that will use them. The only problem is my youngest son wants a cub now after seeing some of your posts. I have to open your posts up now when he ain't lookin because oldest son has currently killed the budget with his tractor and equipment restoration projects. Lol.

So those yellow Cubs were essentially the same or similar tractor (with some upgrades and tin changes) than the original red ones ones were? What years did the yellow ones like those show up?

You could probably carry out most repairs blindfolded.

Mid 50s International Harvester had a assembly plant in Memphis Tn. They shipped in dist, plows, grain drills ect and had like an assembly line to put them together. We picked up lots of implements there. Never have seen one anywhere else but they had more than one of what I would call an extreme cub low boy. Pretty sure the front spindles had been cut and the back tires were lots smaller. They somehow had turned the gears or something those things would fly and when they turned slide sideways on the plant floor. Loved to watch those guys drive them. They pulled little carts with parts of the implements being assembled that day. The set up would be neat but sure about useless as they were so low to the ground.

What is "long stipe"? Typo maybe? I can't figure it out.

Great for you. Hoping to hear from the tractor we were talking about next week. Old tractor market. Buy one for 700$. Spend 50$ to get it home. Spend 300$ to clean it and get it running. AND if your real lucky, most of the time you can sell it for 600$ ( if you give a lifetime warranty). Ha ha.

Pretty nice looking tractors, you will miss them. I have only sold three tractors my entire life and I wish they were in my yard. Especially the 45 hand start JD B on cut offs.

Crazy horse. Virtually the same tractor. Just new tin work. Came out in late 60s early 70s I think. Mid '75 they up graded the motor, got a few more horses, put a long stipe on the hood.

(quoted from post at 15:04:21 01/19/22) Long stripe, in reference to the decal.

Thanks.

Funny the guy I asked who posted it didn't answer.

Long stripe is referring to the decal,
but..... They up graded the motor a bit
in mid '75. Makes more hp. They put a
long stipe decal on it.
