Glad to read that your hard work and dedication is working for you on your engine build. Great job. Kow Farmer

Its been a long miserable project still got a loose end or two that needs tied up but its running

Good job, Hope the loose ends arent to major. Was wondering about that cummins. Seen a YouTube video of semi engines being rebuilt. They start them up long enough to check for leaks. It is shut off until it gets a load to pull and then they lean on it.

SV,
I had confidence you would get it done. Great job.
BTW, you are Cheap Too, otherwise you would have hired
someone to do this job. Nothing wrong with being cheap...
I rebuilt a few engines in my younger days.

Great job. Glad to see it's running! Gonna drive it over for biscuits and gravy? Or a few loaves of bread!?

Very good.
I quit counting at 50 for the number of times I have rebuilt engines..
Cars, trucks, and tractors.
I have rebuilt the 8N that has been in the family since new 6 times.
Due for # 7 soon.

Great to hear ya gott'er runnin SV. I've got one that's been on the engine stand for close to 2 years. Maybe one of these days i'll git it done. RB

I wish SVcummins many good yrs of service . RichardG comment about how many rebuilds got me to thinking . I helped do a 283 about 1970,Then helped a friend do a 340 Dodge Duster , Dad and I tackled a DC Case , a 300 Case , 800 Case diesel followed, Those were all Dads projects . I have done 2 430 Case 188 Diesels , A 3010 JD Gasser ,429 Mercury Marquis engine, Another DC , A 730 Case Gasser , then a SC , then another 800 Diesel. the worst offender has been My Yanmar diesel , Going in for 3 rd time rebuild ! .. Long STORY on all the reasons Why , it was not tractors fault or mine except for allowing idiots to get on the poor thing ! One of my helpers ran it out of fuel while i was sick with china flu . He wanted to solve his problem without telling me ( and also because I told him that tractor might need fuel ) . you guessed it, over ethered it !and blew a piston ring set into the pan ,! The Yanmar has a Decompresser but he was not well versed on how everything worked , NEW RULE .. NO ONE ethers any Engine Unless I am there supervising.. ShheeSH , At $1000 dollars per engine , And that is low for the cost of a rebuild . I have spent some serious bucks overhauling engines . and I am 65 . The last few have cost a bunch more than a thousand each because i hired the work out. I spent 5 K to rebuild a in frame 1070 Case last spring , only to break the crankshaft some 10 hours after she drove out of the shop .. Lucky Me , i got a Crankshaft refurbished for 600 dollars . Yes Farming is expensive lifestyle , Sometimes a guy Gets Lucky , most Times Not . I should a made this a seperate post ..Good Luck Guys !

The reason I have built the 8N 6 times is because it has worked all it's life on 4 farms.
I wish I knew how many hours it has, but I do know it has been working 70 years.

Glad to see its going again and good way to break it in
When we got the 12 valve Cummins rebuilt in my F-450 I drove it 25 miles from my nephews shop to my place, then hooked to a gooseneck trailer and hauled 1000 rolls of hay over the next few weeks

Good to see it on the road again! I have rebuilt around 25 to 30 engines, mostly just new rings and rod bearings and valve jobs. I sold several of them. My last one in my Plymouth Colt didn't turn out well. I used chrome rings and it uses a little oil. I have never had good luck with chrome rings. I might rebuild it again and use new pistons.

When I rebuilt my 4020 thats what I did got it sealed up and then it went on the dyno at varying loads for about 2 hours . Then I set it at 115 horsepower for 5 hours brought it home and put it a rollover plow and plowed about ten acres

Not going to do that to the 4020 but I have a muir hill that
would be an awesome candidate for a cummins swap

I havent done near that many probably 5 I can think of . I want to do rings and valve stem seals on my old 350 chevy in my dump truck
