@008 Impala fuel pump

If you have good equipment to work with you should do it in
an hour. If you do not and it is a bit makeshift and you have to fritter around with it figure half a day.
I did a cavalier in about two hours with my makeshift setup.

Mark,

I can't give you any idea about a time lapse that you should plan on, but I will tell you one thing. Some years ago I dropped the fuel tank and replaced the fuel pump in a Chevrolet Suburban. I did it in the dirt with just a floor jack, a couple of pieces of four by four lumber, a couple of jack stands, and a couple of bottle jacks.

The one thing that really helped was I bought a hand operated fuel transfer pump and emptied the fuel tank before dropping it. That was an important step. But maybe that was obvious to you.

Yep, and to make matters worse, the W body
was originally designed with an access
panel in the trunk, but they eliminated it
in about '05.

If you have access to a motorcycle jack it makes things a lot easier. A lot more stable than just a floor jack. The tank wont tip or lean because of the 2 pads.

If you have never done it before I would plan on everything going wrong and plan for an all day job. If the car is running at all I would run as much gas out of the tank as you can. A tank is frightfully heavy even with 5 gallons in it.

A 2008 car is not going to cooperate getting the fuel tank out and back in. We had a 2008 and I don't remember tank location. Several people I know have had to replace fuel pumps in their trucks and either lifted the box off or cut a hole in the floor and replaced the pump that way. Just a thought.
