Plumbing with Power Beyond

I'm plumbing my FEL on an old MH 101. I have the front mounted pump done, and am working on the controls. I bought a Cross 2 spool already outfitted with power beyond. I'd like to use that BYD port to send flow to my single spool valve that moves my 3 point. My question is: Do I need a return-to-tank off the 2 spool, or will that defeat sending flow to my 3 point single spool, which will have the final return-to-tank? steve

Yes you need a return to tank from the 2 spool with power beyond. You will have 2 return to tank lines, one from each valve.

When you actuate the loader valve, the flow to your auxiliary valve gets cut off, and the oil returning from your loader cylinders goes directly to the tank.

The return to the tank will need to go to pressure side of single spool. Then its return to tank should be already hooked up.

VicS you are wrong. The power beyond goes to the secondary valve. the return has to go to the return or tank.

Vic and joe are right you will have in, Power beyond and return to tank or out on that valve you purchased and need to use them all. When you hold a cylinder to end of stroke oil will go back to tank via the OUT or to tank line. Should be marked out on that valve. Your Power beyond will go to your other lift valve.

Thanks, folks. It made sense in my mind that I needed both valves to have a return-to-tank. The 2 spool has both OUT and Power Beyond, so Power Beyond goes to my 3 point spool, and OUT goes to my tank. At my 3 point single spool, my IN comes from my Power Beyond at the 2 spool, and OUT goes to the tank as well. Right? I've got the work ports all figured out, so they aren't an issue. steve

Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know, but I should add a major caveat.

If it's fed by power beyond, your 3 pt valve MUST be an open center type, meaning it can handle full pump throughput back to tank when in neatral.

Additionally, try to avoid flow restrictions like 90 degree elbows or any fittings smaller than they should be. It will only add heat to your system.

As an aside, I love Loctite Hydraulic Sealant on tapered pipe threads. Teflon tape or the white goo just doesn't cut it.
