Question about selling a tractor

I have a tractor I'm going to put up for sale soon. It's a John Deere with a 148 loader. My understanding from reading on here is that the loader is worth a fair amount. Would it be worth more to sell as a package or sell separately? My thinking is that if someone doesn't want the loader it won't add any extra value to the tractor. Thanks for any input and opinions

There are a few people that will pay for the loader $2500 in my area.
You could always advertise the loader first and if it doesn't sell in a month then the whole tractor.
If someone offers a good price for both when trying to sell the loader might get rid of both.

advertise the whole thing for what you want for it all. put in ad if someone doesn't want loader you are willing to sell without as long as
someone comes and buys loader first. All depends on how much you work you want to have in selling

I remember when no one had a Loader on their tractor. No every auction has several with mounts selling. Times have changed.

I would advertise it as a complete unit and if you don't mind the hassle say you will separate it
and put down a price for each which will compensate you for the trouble. Make sure if you do
separate it they understand which parts stay with tractor and which with the loader.

The loader in very good condition is worth at least 3,000 dollars by itself in this area. What is the tractor?

If the loader mounts are for a very uncommon tractor than nobody has, that would make the loader very tough to sell by itself as there are very few potential buyers, much less any that are currently looking for a loader for that model tractor.

If the loader mounts are for a popular tractor or a popular range of tractors (for example: JD 4030 to 4450), the loader is much easier to sell alone. In that case I would sell the loader separately and be willing to negotiate a package deal if the tractor and loader are purchased together.

Sell it as a package. Let the new owner separate the tractor and loader if desired. Otherwise, you will sell one, and be stuck with the other for a very long time.

1972 3020 diesel

I would consider 3020 mounts to be odd ball enough to sell the tractor and loader together rather than separately. The mounts probably only fit 3010-3020 and maybe 2510-2520. The newest of those is now fifty years old.

Only difference between JD FEL mounts for a rowcrop tractor with 4 cylinder VS 6 cylinder engine is the mounting brackets on tractors with 4 cylinder have been shortened by about 8 inches but will fit tractors with 6 cylinder engine just fine. Shorter brackets have 1 or 2 less attaching bolts to frame on each side.

3020 mounts for a John Deere 148 loader are definitely not odd. Many 148 loaders on 3020 tractors, one setting in my shed now. 3010-4010, 2510 thru 4320, 4030 thru 4430, 4040 thru 4440 all have the same width frame rails and same spacing for the bolt holes. I had a loader on my 4440 and moved the mounts to a 4020. Only required removing bolts an reattaching on the 4020. My 148 loader was on a 4020. Used the same mounts to attach to a 3020. 3020 does have shorter frame and requires removing the rear 6" of the mounting bracket. But definitely not and "odd' set of loader mounts.
