Massey Ferguson 1045

I have an almost 50 year old Massey 1045, that the rim has rusted through and needs to be replaced..

Anyone know if this rim is the same as those used on the new models?

Yesterday's Tractors said they have no info on this particular model.

Dollars to doughnuts a new replacement rim is available from any at tire dealer. You will need the size and type of the original rim, or at the
very least, the tire size and a photograph of what's on the tractor now. Unverfirth and other companies manufacture a wide variety of
replacement rims.

I have a spare scrap rim I cut patches from and get them welded in the old rim. I clean the old rim very
well and repaint the entire inside. This operation takes more time but saves about $150 per rim. And I
have done about 5 rims so far. Typically the rotted area is around the air stem so I drill a new 5/8 hole in
another location.

Isn't that a compact tractor ? Rear rim could be a common 24 or 28 inch size. Front may be a little harder to find. Turf tires or
at tires will also make a difference. If all else fails check with a Massey Ferguson dealer.

If i Had the model and number, would have been no problem. Not listed in the manual(that's one of the things I'm looking for here).

Afraid original rim may be beyond saving. Beyond the rusted hole, the outer is bent where my granddaughter ran into a tree.
Any and all pertinent will help.

Looking at TractorData, it is classed as a Compact Utility Tractor. Toyosha built for Massey. If you have the adjustable tread rims held to the center disc by 8 bolts the MF part number is 3438536M1 for the 11 x 28 rim. The parts book calls for 8 but looking at the drawing it looks to me like 6 would be the correct number. It appears to be an offset tab type mount, not loops. However, loop type might work if they measure out right.

Toyosha/Himomoto built tractors for several manufacturers. With a picture and some measurements in hand, I would expect you could find rims at salvage yards and dealers by talking with them.

As others have posted the are likely to be found at your local commercial tire dealer. I once bought a pair, and had them bring them in with a regular stock order. With current shipping costs if you can wait you can save a lot.
