JD-400-D Loader/Backhoe oil pressure sender

I figured out why the oil pressure gauge doesn't work on my 1970 JD-400 backhoe/loader. The wire is broken off and I don't see the other end anywhere near by. I'd like to rewire it but I can't find the sender. Would someone give me a hint as to where to look?

Look at RH rear of engine block. IIRC engine crankcase vent tube blocks view of engine oil sender

Thanks. Is it a chore to access and replace or just typical?

What engine do you have? As Tx Jim posted look at the right rear of the engine (right above the drive end of the starter in the clutch housing plate) and I think you will see it.

Another question. I didn't see it on the YT WEB site. Probable just a standard, GM type oil pressure sender, right?

Somewhere in this area? Looks like I'll need to move that 150# hood forward a bit to see it.

Here are a couple pictures of JD engines I have about the same vintage and size of your engine. I may be wrong; however I think you will find the port for the oil pressure light sender (or an oil pressure gauge tube) in the same location.

The photo provided shows the starter and just above that, the oil pressure port and above what looks like the oil filter canister I think.

Sorry, the photo is a little blurry but it look to be right where the other photo shows it but there's what I hope is a 1/8" pipe plug in the hole. There may be another pressure port elsewhere but this one is readily accessible.

Sorry but that is not the oil filter, that is the fuel filter, just like your tractor has.

If you don't have Operator's and service manuals get a set. Study the manuals, the operator's manual will show you the normal service points, like oil filter, and fuel filter for a couple.
