Hay

Bill,

Are you going to do anything with that grass that's on the ground? I bushhogged about 6 acres of weedy, overgrown hay ground but since I still use a sickle bar mower to cut my hay, I have to do something about shredding that grass that I cut from this bad hay, otherwise, it will plug my sickle bar when I mow it next year. I have a 6 foot finishing mower, so my plan at this time is to go over that trashy hay with the finishing mower to try to cut the grass up better than the bushhog did.

Not sure what I'm, going to do, but I think the finishing mower is next.

Yes - we baled that hay and will sell it as a low quality hay with a low price. Not a lot there, but the field is clipped for next year and we can glean a little revenue too.

Ha! I thought I was - until I saw the video.

This Hesston on the Farmall 350 is a new experience for me on the farm, just giving it a try to see if the tractor could handle it. I know now where to put the rear tire, it looks like the outer edge of it is right on the edge of the Hesston inside cutter bar.

Live and learn.

Around here, hay IMHO is in short supply. I only know one person that fertilized - most passed due to the cost of it. That and fewer and fewer folks making squares on these small VA mountain fields.
