I have an old JD 1 1/2 hp engine that Pa used to run the pump back in the day. It has nice trucks. It has not run for 15 years but I think it would run. Guy came to look at plow I have for sale and asked if I would sell the engine. I had to check if any of my nephews wanted it and they don't. Any idea what it is worth? I'm in So. Mn.

he people selling them on Marketplace believe they are made of gold. Don't know if they're finding buyers.
 
Yep, Mark has it about right for the average engine. An exceptional one with lots of OEM paint and a few unusual variations will bring a good bit more
 
Surprising what they bring. Is that a brass tag engine, worth more if it is. Igniter or spark plug? There was one on Facebook market place about a month ago, Mankato, MN area I believe, or maybe Sleepy Eye. Any way, non- brass tag, was free, igniter, missing some parts for that. They were asking $900.00, BIL called and it had just sold for $750.00. BIL says they bring around 1,000.00 per hp, more if running in good condition. Parts are not hard to find for those and the IH type M, which is similar. Maybe you should keep it, their pretty simple to fix
 
Seen some 1-1/2 HP that had been put on other than JD trucks. It will be worth more if it has the original trucks and you should be able to find out what it has. I sold my engine a few years ago which had a new fuel tank, was an igniter, had non-JD trucks and was in pretty good condition. Sold to a guy who wanted to run an old hand crank ice cream freezer with it. Think I got 1K for it.
