High priced White

I was just checking the results from an auction here in Michigan from Thursday. There was an 82 White 2-105 FWA, open station, hours unknown, said has some leaks. I saw a picture, it was far from pristine. It brought $14,000.
Same auctioneer sold three 4020 Deeres the next day for $4800, $5750 and a 72 for $9250, so we can't just say high priced tractors. There was a dealer reduction and consignment sale a few weeks ago and a 2-85 open station two wheel drive brought $5000. The FWA on the 2-105 must have made a huge difference.

That tractor would get the attention of collectors as most of them had cabs and not many had front wheel assist.

I passed on this 2-85 a couple months ago.Had a little over 6500 hours, good tires, non a/c cab,cab interior was thrashed but came with new interior pieces.Later series sheet metal..was a 1978 model if I remember right.Had oil and fuel leaks but started and ran good, everything worked on it.Owner wouldn't move off 14k.

I was interested in it, but it was a fair distance away. I figured there'd be another collector who wanted it more than me, so I stayed home. I would have liked to have seen it in person, but I'm glad now that I didn't waste the time and gas going.

2-85 and 2-105 MFWD tractors are hard to come by and have a definite demand. That aside I can't speak about Michigan but here in NY there is a definite shortage of good tractors and equipment period. Nothing is going for what I would call cheap. There was a rough IH 806 Diesel at an auction I attended a week ago and it brought 3,900 dollars.

It seems to me that all of the highly useful tractors, have been going up in value, despite their age. The new tractors are just so darn expensive, and that cursed DEF systems doesnt make them any easier to live with either.

Same auction had 4020 with 100 hours on engine rebuild. It sold for $4000, what was wrong with it ?
I know where 806 came from, the old girl looked good for what she'd been through.

That was a wheatland tractor (no 3 pt hitch) so that hurt it a fair amount. I just checked the Proxibid for that auction and the price shows as 6,000 dollars. Set up as a row crop it would have fetched 9,000 dollars or more.

Couple months ago there was a Oliver 1655 4WD with loader on Facebook MP for $14000,looked real nice.First day it was posted I was 3rrd in line.Would have loved to had it.

That would make sense. Weather was way to lousy for me
to stick around or check tractors over more carefully. LOL
