Tire Tread Recommendation

Trying to make a decision on which tires to keep and which to sell. Primary use is snow removal but some grading. Should have tried both but didnt, I could use your experience and or knowledge please
Early Ford 4000 Utility, 13.6x28s, will load them with beet juice and add pie weights. CO-OP Agri-Power (alternating small and large bars) or CO-OP Agri-Force (all large bars)
Sorry for the silly question but which is better in snow

I would be tempted to say the bottom tire. But with enough ballast either one should do the job.

If it were me, I'd use the ones that were the newest, and sell the oldest. As in by date made. A tire guy could probably help ya with crossing numbers and figuring out when they were made.

As far as tread in snow, I don't think you'll notice any difference between the two. I'd just figure on putting on a set of chains for the snow blading season. And what tread they are isn't gonna matter at all with chains on. And chains are practically a must in the snow anyways. Even if weighted.

Just An observation, the long short seem to wear out faster than long bars. But any tread will stop as soon as you have a 1/4 inch of ice. Buy chains(you have all summer to go to farm sales to find them)and what better way to spend a Saturday?

In snow it wont matter much.

All things being equal the tires with even bars are a bit better than the tires with long and short bars.

But............

In your picture the tire with the even bars appears to be spaced much farther between bars than the tire with the uneven bars.

For traction in dirt and mud more lugs is better. For tire wear more lugs will take more wear.

So that even lug tire looks to be a cheaper design with less lugs?

Hum.

For snow removal you can NOT PUT ENOUGH WEIGHT ON ,if you want to play in the snow and ice ya still need tiore chains . We tried it that way once , loaded tire with Cal. five sets of 150's bolted to the wheels and 20 100 lb suite cases hanging on the draw bar on a super H farmall and all ya did was spin and get STUCK . Added tirte chains and night and day difference NOW you could do something . Smae when i was a kid with a Farmall Cub , tires loaded two sets of wheel weights on the back and one set on the ft . totally helpless , add IRON and now ya had a D 9 that would push snow .

I have one of each on my old loader tractor probably 1000 lb of weight on the rear. The long bar short bar tire always spins first.

The long bar/short bar tires aren't my favorite. At certain speeds they will "shimmy" as they roll off the different length bars. There is a reason all new tractors have long/long tires on them.

I agree. My 2009 65HP tractor came new with them and they are rough
on hard surfaces. Traction is ok with them but really improves when
I kick in the 4wd 12+ in. wide long bar fronts.

Thank you to all the responders for your wisdom.
Choice is pretty clear
Definitely noticed the shimmy and did not like it. Also noticing the bar spacing vs. Firestone Field and Roads I have is quite different.
Have to move snow in a part with pavement so hate to go with chains but well see.
Any Saturday looking for tractor parts would be a great day imho!
Thanks again
