Neighbor called and is having a problem with his planter monitor. Planter is a Kinze 2000 6/11 row. Monitor is a Kinze 3000 (DickeyJohn built) with a Vanguard box (the size of a couple decks of cards model #50507) plugged into the Kinze 3000 monitor and a Trimble gps antenna plugged into the Vanguard box. The Vanguard box has an indicator on it. It displays a continuous scrolling circle like it is not picking up any signals. Any ideas as to where to start? Thanks.

Time to look at the fence post at the other end and check for the next one when you turn around. Markers and driving have been the standard for more years than GPS has. Though the cost of markers has driven the planters to be sold without markers. Cut a pole and tie it across the front of the tractor cut to fit sight and go.

This is JUST a guess. There was decommissioning of some satellites within the last year. Maybe the vanguard box is lost without them?

I would suggest either you or you friend post this on the AgTalk forum in the link. There are real modern day farmers on there that use these kind of systems. The information about some satellite guidance systems becoming obsolete recently is correct. They certainly will not tell you to learn how to drive straight without it. There is a ..Precision Talk.. section and also the Machinery Talk section there would be good places
